Leaves are feathers of the trees
even as they stand steadfast
and nowhere they move.
And yet with that many
often swirling wings
those slander angels
are taking in much light
and any passing wind
till they sing and quiver
ever down and lower
from the farthest tip.
And the flight is that sound
but also wings’ grand silence,
beckoning down a beauty’s wonder.
