The crooked staff of Santa Claus
is the scythe of Saturn alias Cronos.
It is said that, with the masks
on their faces that made some
look like mannequins and dolls,
they consecrated and offered
themselves to the Black Sun—
the Dark God, as the longest
night drew close, casting
its longest occultation
on all in its chilling grip
that flipped the angst to revelry.
For they reckoned how to survive
otherwise than by giving themselves
over to the shadiest Lord, El Shaddai,
the Ending Cut of the Light and Soul?
