Apples Lit by the August Sun

 

Appetite for sunshine gathers

sweetly in the silent sap—

petite by petite, little by little,

growing into curve and shape

 

as that living caress coursing down

in a drizzle of the dripping light

touches off the soul—the mirror,

a spark, its own beauty resonant,

 

sans hâte, sans violence, peu à peu
