To the gym they arrive,
hand in hand with iPhones—
treated as confidants,
the closest of lovers
they may ever know.
What else could they face,
or dare to do there,
without these flat pets—
their faithful companions—
serving even as
staunch Polyphemic eyes,
always eager to praise,
to admire without end,
or as purses reborn
that listen and talk,
that even sing,
and kiss into—
their tendered ears?
